Linear screw drives
Linear screw drives are divided into ball screws and roller screws. Ball screws, also called recirculating ball screws, are used to convert a rotary motion into a longitudinal motion. Balls roll between the lead screw and the nut. A smooth motion sequence is guaranteed by a ball return system in an endless loop. Roller screw drivers have a much higher load-bearing capacity. Rollers are used as rolling elements. The high number of contact surfaces results in smooth running and long service life. Very small thread pitches can be realized with roller screws.
